However, we are providing both medical services and mental health services via telehealth. Telehealth technology offers an advantage for patients, physicians, and therapists, especially during the current public health crisis. It is an effective way to provide care while following social distancing guidelines. Because this technology can help eliminate the need for many in-office visits, it is currently our preferred method of delivering healthcare. Some patients are unfamiliar with how telehealth works, so we’ve gathered answers to frequently asked questions we’ve heard.
- Are telehealth visits available for both current and new patients?
Yes, telehealth is available for both current and new patients. Existing patients can access the system through their patient portal on our website after contacting us for an appointment. New patients should call us at 718-215-9419 to set up an initial appointment.
- What Your Local Psychiatrist services are available via telehealth?
We are able to offer primary care, internal medicine, and mental health services (e.g., medication management and psychotherapy) via telehealth.
- What should I expect during a telehealth visit?
We are dedicated to providing our patients with the same excellent service whether we see you in our office or via a telehealth visit. Once you log in to the system, your visit will be similar to an in-office visit. You will be able to see, hear, and talk to your provider just as if you were in our office.
- What about prescriptions?
If your healthcare provider determines that you need a prescription for treatment, we can send the prescription to your pharmacy of choice.
- What is the cost for a telehealth visit?
Telehealth visits are subject to your insurance plan benefits. However, since the COVID-19 situation began, insurance plans typically now cover telemedicine visits. To determine whether or not your insurance plan covers telehealth, and what your financial responsibility will be, if any, please contact your health insurance plan in advance of your visit.
- How do I schedule a telehealth visit?
Simply call us at 718-215-9419 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to request an appointment. We will provide you with directions on how to log into the system when you contact us to make your appointment.
- Do I need special equipment to access the telehealth system?
You can access the system using a desktop computer, laptop, or mobile device through our website’s patient portal or by using the Healow mobile app. You can access the patient portal or find a link to download the app by clicking on “Patient Login” at the top right corner of our website. Please try to familiarize yourself with the system well in advance of your appointment to ensure that you have the best possible experience.
