Stephanie L. English, MHNP
Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner, licensed psychologist, and life coach with over 30 years of experience as a mental health professional. I work with clients who live in New York State, are between the ages of 18 and 60, and are considering medication to help them manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, traumatic stress, or attention deficits. I work with ALL clients and am particularly a good fit for those who are considering medication for the first time OR whose first experience with medication was less than ideal. I also offer life coaching for those ready to bounce back from depression/anxiety and create their ideal life.
Medication can be very helpful in reducing/eliminating your symptoms but other factors play a role in your mental health as well. To that end, I also stress the importance of sleep, nutrition, exercise, healthy relationships, healthy thinking habits, and therapy (if needed) among other factors.
Starting medication may be new to you, it may seem scary, or you may have had negative prior experiences. It’s so important to find a patient provider, who listens to what you’re experiencing and how it is impacting you, and takes the time to explain your treatment options in a way that is easy to understand. I am the provider

James Cherry, LMSW
Psychotherapist
I am a Licensed Master of Social Work, and I have worked with clients of all ages; however, I have extensive experience in working with adolescents and their families. I utilize evidence-based practices to treat issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, phobias, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Substance Use, interpersonal and relationship challenges, low self-esteem, sexuality, and life adjustments. I strive to help my clients build healthy coping skills, improve self-esteem, and empower them to reach their mental health goals. I do this by assisting clients in articulating connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions to understand better where they have been and what direction they now wish to go.
While changing behaviours and feelings is always tricky, it is never something that we need to face alone. I know that coming to therapy and making the commitment to show up for themselves every week requires strength from my clients. Therefore, I strive to help them get the most out of their experience. Together, we create a wellness plan specific to each individual (which I believe is the utmost priority.
My passion for helping others shines through with authenticity and compassion. My clients find emotional fulfilment, and success in relationships, and develop more confidence to grow. I welcome the experience of walking alongside my clients and respect their commitment to change.

Bernice McKenzie, LMSW
Psychotherapist
I am a Social Work Therapist with 14+ years of experience. This is in addition to 12+ years of career, academic and mental health counselling with young adults (during my years of service as a tertiary-level educator).
My educational background has been shaped by culturally diverse environments. This comprised a rural Michigan university (Andrews) for the Master of Social Work degree. After years of MSW/LMSW service, a terminal degree – Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), was achieved at another university (Yeshiva) in the heart of urban America – New York City.
I offer compassionate, confidential, custom-tailored therapy to individuals across the lifespan, as well as, couples, families and
groups.
Prior therapeutic experience includes service to clients in diverse levels of care, such as, community/home care, assisted living, hospital, psych-ICU, online, and in-office outpatient care. While providing therapy to these clients, I employed long-term supportive therapy, shorter-term solution-focused therapy, & focused therapy along with cognitive behavioural interventions for a wide range of concerns.
These include mood challenges of depression and anxiety, new parental challenges/post-partum depression, bipolar d/o, eating d/o, bereavement/loss, domestic violence, pre-marital/couples/marriage/family therapy, addictions, intrapersonal awareness therapy, interpersonal & inter-generational issues, youth-in-crisis, PTSD, foster care parents therapy/training, Alzheimer’s Dementia support, and end-of-life issues.
I have also worked with diverse ‘transition’/adjustment disorder issues, e.g. college freshmen/career guidance/choice of major-personality congruity; post-divorce; post-retirement; career transitions; culture shock, and the likes.
I believe in holistic approaches to health and encourage a balance of physical, spiritual, medical, and therapeutic interventions.
Entering therapy is often the first step in a significant, personal journey. Thus, you will find me to be a thoughtful, compassionate and confidential professional who empowers each person as the expert in their life while encouraging them to grow, glow, and go (learn/practice new ways of being).
My current approach is interactive and warm, primarily from a strengths-based psychodynamic perspective with behavioural interventions drawing from CBT. I use a relational style to help you clarify the root of struggles, identify barriers, and create pathways to move forward.
We exist in an extremely dynamic world so I look forward to empowering you with tools to ‘shift gears’ as needed, and to embrace the uncertainty change brings.
You deserve to live your very best possible life.
Daniel Jarquin, LMSW
Psychotherapist
Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) psychotherapist with experience working with clients of different backgrounds and ages. I bring a history of using different modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) among others in my work. I also pride myself on being fluent in both English and Spanish since it allows the ability to address a population of New York with diverse cultures who often do not have access to services due to language barriers.
Educated through Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service, I am always seeking to grow as a person through my work in psychotherapy and encounters with people of all walks of life. By focusing on the tenets of social work such as empathetic understanding, collaborative goal setting, and identifying strengths and resources for each patient before settling on an individualized treatment plan, I hope to bring a better understanding of what makes social work unique for every patient.
Anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, and low self-esteem are just some of the myriad of issues people face in today’s world. Although there is much work to be done in terms of making mental health accessible and affordable, therapy alongside the collaborative effort we provide with other professionals can assist you in the often difficult first step in beginning a journey of self-discovery.
